Surbiton town centre plans get government boost

by admin on 23 October, 2012

Surbiton has been awarded Town Team partner status, designed to help it attract more investment and boost local growth, business and jobs and will recieve £10,000 from Government to help, as well as being able to call on the advice and support of leading retail experts.

It was announced on today that Surbiton had been successful after local MP Ed Davey and ward Councillors backed the bid supported by local businesses, the community and Kingston Council.

Those of us who regularly use Surbiton town centre know how good it is, only 20 minutes from London with lots of bespoke and different shops and eateries. This £10,000 will be well used to promote our shops, cafes and restaurants to ensure our vitality as a thriving district centre. We thank Ed Davey MP for helping us to secure this status, and the hard work of businesses, councillors and the local community has paid off – it’s a real team effort.

Being a Town Team partner lets us put our plans for improvement into action and start to shape the future.
