Malden Rushett junction road closures

by admin on 25 October, 2014

Road closures at Malden Rushett for improvement works begin from Monday 20 October.

Transport for London (TfL) has begun work to deliver improvements and introduce a signal controlled pedestrian crossing and dedicated right turn facilities at Malden Rushett between the intersections of A243 Leatherhead Road junction, B280 Fairoak Lane and Rushett Lane. The junction has been redesigned to improve the ‘through capacity’ of the B280, to alleviate congestion and increase the safety of the junction. New ‘smart’ traffic signals will be more responsive to traffic conditions and controlled pedestrian crossings will enhance safety when crossing the road.

Works to reconstruct and resurface the B280 have also been coordinated, as it is currently in a very poor condition.

  • Monday 13 October – night time lane closures on A243 Leatherhead Road between 8pm and 2am with noisy works (such as breaking concrete) stopping at midnight
  • Monday 20 October – Rushett Lane will be closed around the area of the works, local access will be maintained via diversion routes. The road will be reopened on 14 November
