Kingston welcomes Korea

by lizgreen on 26 July, 2015

Kingston Borough has the largest Korean community in Europe, with 10% of our population.

Kingston Welcomes Korea runs from Thursday 30th July to Saturday 8th August 2015 at various locations across Kingston

A party with a purpose – an arts festival with a trade fair.

  • Korean dance and comedy companies at the Rose Theatre.
  • Anglo-Korean concerts and recitals at All Saints Parish Church.
  • Exhibition from the new generation of outstanding Korean artists.
  • Networking for British companies that want to trade with Korea and Korean companies that want to trade with Britain.
  • Designs and models for a new Royal garden for the Coronation Stone.
  • Green Debate with leading speakers at the Guildhall.
  • a Korean picnic.
  • many more events.

August 15 is Korean Independence Day. On that day, seventy years ago, Korea was officially declared independent from Japan. This was a significant day for us in the UK, for it marked the ending of the Second World War. We do have a lot to celebrate.
