25% of primary school children complete the Summer Reading Challenge

by lizgreen on 6 October, 2015

The Summer Reading Challenge run by Kingston Council Libraries encourages young children to keep up their reading skills during the long summer school holidays. This year’s theme was Record Breakers and children get a poster and stickers for taking part, with a medal at the end if they read or listen to 6 books. Nearly 2,800 children completed the task this summer.

My girls love that they get prizes for reading their library books.  The library service is helped by young volunteers from local secondary schools, who get some great work experience as well.
