Victoria Park has won bronze in the Mayor of London’s Safer Parks Awards. The awards recognise good practice in tackling a specific problem of ASB and/or crime, challenging public perception that a specific park is unsafe, encouraging greater use and enjoyment of parks, and increasing and supporting community action to improve safety in London’s parks.

Kingston Council and the local Safer Neighbourhoods Police Team have put a lot of work into improving Victoria Park in the last year. Signs and hendges have been smarten up following Police crime prevention advice, new play equipment has gone in and a new Friends of the park group is being set up. I’m pleased that this work has been recognised by the Mayor and with the new lighting due to be installed soon, it will further improve public perception of the safety of the park at night.
