The new 101 number for contacting the police was launched on 11th July as part of a national programme to improve access.
The new number will give the public one easy way to get in touch with the police for calls that do not require an urgent response. Having just two phone numbers – 101 and 999 – makes calling the Metropolitan Police a lot easier and is intended to make the police services more accessible.
Dialling 101 provides a direct link to police, where the public can get information, advice and access to their local policing teams. For more details visit the Metropolitan Police Website
