Sgt Darren Mercer, St Mark’s and Surbiton Hill Wards Safer Neighbourhood Police Sergeant has been promoted and is transferred to Merton Borough. Sergeant Lee Hinton will take over and will start on Monday 26th March. 

We would like to thank Sgt Mercer for his hard work over the last 3 years for St Mark’s Ward and look forward to working with Sgt Hinton.

With St Mark’s Ward down to only one PSCO (each ward should have 3), we will be raising this with him soon to see if he can help.  The issue is that Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has put a freeze on the recruitment on new PCSO and many have gone on to become PCs.  We have raised this with the Metropolitan Police, Conservative GLA member Tony Arbour and the Mayor of London, but currently there are no plans to change this.

We also share a Sergeant with neighbouring Surbiton Hill Ward, so instead of 6 dedicated officers, St Mark’s have 3.5 officers and we don’t think this is good enough.
