Lime Tree Primary School

by admin on 10 September, 2012

On Thursday 6th September 2012, Lime Tree Primary School opened it’s doors to pupils for the first time.  90 reception pupils and 26 nursery pupils will be attending the school this year, expanding to 420 pupils over the next 6 years.

Councillors Green, Ayles and Self were shown around the school just a couple of days before the first day.

It’s a truly amazing space for learning – light and bright, withopen spaces and some very unusual features.  It’s connection of healthy body, brain and heart with the NHS partnership in the trust that runs the school is clearly visible.  It has large growing areas for the children to grow their vegetables which will be used in the school on-site kitchen and a fully functioning kitchen for the children to learn to cook healthy meals.  It has a sensory room, especially designed for the Special Educational Needs pupils it will take.  Plenty of outdoor play space both at ground level and on the rooftop.

I’d encourage residents to go along and take a look at their open evening on Tuesday 18th September between 6 and 8pm.  But if you can’t make it there are some more pictures here.
