Kingston 3rd best for school attendance

by admin on 7 March, 2013

Kingston’s overall attendance rate in the 2011-12 academic year was 95.6 per cent (up from 95.2 per cent the previous year), the third best nationally, with 738 pupils achieving 100 per cent.

In 2004 Kingston Council was the first local authority in the country to award Mayor’s Medals to pupils who achieved 100 per cent attendance.  Since then thousands of Kingston pupils have been honoured for not missing a day of school for a whole academic year.  Some pupils recieve the medal several times.

tricia bamfordSchool attendance in Kingston continues to be among the best in the country. It’s a fantastic effort and I pay tribute to all the pupils, teachers, families and education officers who have helped to improve and maintain high attendance rates.

Our young people are benefitting from good teaching and excellent support. Kingston schools are top of the league when it comes to helping children to achieve.
