8th March – An unusal planning application has been put to Kingston Council for converting the Former Public toilets at Claremont Road (by The Clocktower).  The applicant wants to change the use from toilets to Snack Bar/Cafe.  It also includes the insertion of windows to create a shopfront and placing chairs and tables during operating hours.  Full details can be found at 13/16149 and closing date for comments is 14th April 2013.

This isn’t as strange as it may sound. As part of our savings programme Kingston Council sells or leases it’s assets to make best use of them. With a bit of a history at these toilets and ones available next door at Waitrose, they were closed several years ago. They were declared surplus and marketed for the best option/value.
